Free Amazon Books

I love to read. I mean LOVE to read. As far back as I can remember I have always had at least one book with me which meant a big purse to carry. For my birthday (the BIG 30)  Hubby bought me an Amazon Kindle. At first I was a little iffy about getting digital books, however, I soon found this was an easier way to carry more than one book. (This is where the “mommy” purse started shrinking.) Also having the Kindle allowed me to get some books in between library and bookstore trips. I still buy books from the store because there is nothing like holding a book in your hand or turning the page of a book.

For those who still are not sure about getting digital books I wanted to share some free ones with you. You don’t have to have a kindle. You just need a kindle app which can be put on smart phones or on your computer. You can usually find free kindle books, however, they don’t always stay free long. Some are worth the read but I have found a couple I could not get through. So here are a couple that are free right now.

Amazon did not pay me for any of this post. This is my own opinion.

Squash Patties

Now that summer is here (at least where I am from), heating the house for supper is not my idea of  fun. But I sure do love to cook. So I found a couple of easy quick recipes to help me with not cooking so much. One is my favorite and a great way to use up the squash, which is plentiful in the summer.

You can use either squash or zucchini. Both grow super fast so you should be able to find either one in the summer at your local farmer’s market if you don’t grown your own. It is super easy and can be made to be gluten free easy.

3 Squash, shredded
1 Egg
1/2 to 1 cup of cornmeal
1 onion chopped (optional)
salt, pepper, garlic to taste.

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Make into patties, like hamburger. Put in a little oil in a frying pan, if you wish. I use a non stick pan but when I use my cast iron I add oil. Pan fry until done. Using cornmeal means there is no gluten. I use a local cornmeal and love it. I mean who would not like to use local items.

Here is my local cornmeal!!!!

Pair these patties with some ham of your choice. I like Kentucky Legend brown sugar.

Hope you enjoy and would love to hear if you tried these.  Next week I will have another simple summer recipe for y’all!!

Until we next meet,
A
